It’s been more than twenty years since I released my first publication in a four-part series of 6”x9” booklets called “Running Extra.” First, was a 24-page booklet from 1999 on the largely unknown “Soo Line” branch terminating at Whitetail in northeastern Montana.  I was raised in the Inland Empire of eastern Washington and therefore had the opportunity to photograph the Great Northern before the 1970 Burlington Northern merger, hence the second 28-page booklet traces the “Great Northern Railway - Kettle Falls Branch” from Hillyard thru Kettle Falls to Republic. In 2001, the third 28-page booklet, “Off the Beaten Pass- 30-Years in Marias Pass” focused on my life in the Montana Rockies highlighting Burlington Northern trains in nearly every location in the Pass from 1970 to 2000. Finally in 2002, my 28-page booklet "Livin' on the Hi-Line" in the series follows the Burlington Northern/Burlington Northern Santa Fe Hi-Line route from Browning to Snowden with a side trip up the Bainville – Plentywood/Scobey line.
