Jerry Quinn, Sr Rail Photo Diary - Western Railroads
1960s thru 1990s
This 92-page full-color 11 x 8.5 landscape format softcover
has over 175 photos.
Jerry graciously gave me access to his thousands
of railroad images...
This book is a compilation of photographs of railroad
operations in Spokane's Inland Empire from the 1960s to 1990s,
with occasional forays around the Western United States.
Jerry was born in New Jersey and moved to Spokane
in 1967 with a dream for a better life than what was possible
in New Jersey..
He has an ongoing interest in railroads on what they did,
where they went, and how they worked. He is a master
model railroad builder and the two interests
naturally coincide with each other.
Some of his achievements are....
President of the Inland Empire Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
President of the River City Modelers
President of the Evergreen Railroad Modelers
Member of Centennial Trail Board of Spokane
22 years as a Rotary Club member
Ad man of the year at Spokane Ad Club
Photos published in many books and publications including Railroads of Montana.
Raised funds to move UP #3206 from High Bridge Park to Spokane County Fairgrounds
Led effort to save the Great Northern depot from demolition in 1972,
but did save the Clocktower from destruction. Today it's the Icon of the city.
Recently honored by the Mayor of Spokane for saving the GN Clocktower
when the city wanted all railroad references removed.
